课程设置与安排
1. 学制
学习期限为一学期（学习时间为16周）及以上🐦，设五日班♖、三日班👩👩👦。
春季学期于2月开学，秋季学期于9月开学。
2.课程设置
汉语课程:开设Level1-level8八个级别🖊👩🏿🦰，每个级别的报名学生满三人（含三人）以上开班🟨。
科目设置：精读🧔、泛读、听力🤟🏽👩🏿🚀、口语、HSK 等课程，具体见附表。
免费选修课:中国国画、传统手工艺等🌼，每门课程报名学生满三人（含三人）以上开班⚜️。

3．课时及班级人数:
1课时为45分钟🤦🏻🧽，每节课2课时。所有级别及课程均为报名学生满三人（含三人）以上开班，每班不超过 20 人🦏。20人以上班级实行分班🚵♀️。
★按国家法定节假日放假或调课。

1.申请时间
春季学期课程每年9月开始申请；秋季学期课程每年3月开始申请。
2．申请资格
年龄在16周岁以上、45周岁以下👩🏽🦳🧑🍼，身体健康的国际学生。

Chinese Language Program at SMU (2014)
Courses and Schedule
1. Length of Study
one semester (four months) or above length; Program includes five-day, three-day courses etc;
Spring Semester opens in February and Fall Semester opens in September.
2. Courses
Chinese Language Course: from Level1 to level8, altogether 8 levels; Classes will be held with three or more registered students at each level.
Course includes intensive reading, extensive reading, listening, speaking, and HSK etc (Pls refer to the following two tables.).
Free-charged Elective Courses: Chinese Traditional Painting, Handicraft etc. Classes will be held with three or more registered students at each course.

3. Class Period and Size
1 period=45 minutes, and each class takes two periods. Class size: The minimum umber of students in one class is 3 students, and no more than 20. In case one class has more than 20 students, a new class of the same level will be set.
★Holidays: Academic Calendar will follow the national statutary holidays of China.
Application:
1. Application Date
Spring Semester application starts from September and Fall Semester application starts from March.
The application is accepted all over the year.
2. Eligibility
Applicants should be over 16 and under 45 years old in good health.
3. Application Mode
Online: Applicant should make online application at http://smuccs.shmtu.edu.cn or send email to smuccs@163.com.
Accommodation Application: Applicant can apply for a double room in the dormitory directly on the application form. No more dormitory application will be accepted if the reservation is full.

Admission Procedure
1. SMU receives the application materials, the review will be initiated.
2. Once admitted, applicant should pay registration fee and tuition fees.
3. SMU will issue Notice of Admission and JW202 Form to applicant.
4. Applicant should take Passport , Passport Photo，Notice of Admission, Form JW202, Physical Examination Record for Foreigners to Chinese Embassy or Consulate for visa application.
5. Students with student (X) visa shall register with the local police station within 24 hours after entry; Students with X1 visa shall apply to Entry-Exit Admin bureau of Shanghai for residence permit within 30 days from the date of entry.
Registration
Applicant is required to register at SMU on time. If one cannot register as required, he/she has to inform SMU in advance. Those who are late for class without any reason will be disqualified for registration.
Payment
1. Tuition and Related fees
Registration fee 🧎➡️：RMB400∕person
Tuition: Five-day Class 8000; Three-day Class 6500; HSK Intensive Training: 500
Textbook: RMB200-300 person based on the student’s level
Accommodation: RMB40/person/day
2. Tuition Fee Discount
10% discount from the second semester for the student who has chosen the Five-day Chinese Course for more than two consecutive semesters, namely RMB7,200;
10% discount for degree students currently registered and studying at Shanghai Maritime University, namely RMB7,200.
No discount for HSK Intensive Training.

Completion
At the end of one semester student will receive a Completion Certificate issued by IEC, SMU if he/she finishes required class periods, has good attendance and passes the exams.
